Free and Open Source GIS Software uDig

udig screenshots There are many famous GIS application running on Windows OS like Mapinfo, Micromine, Global Mapper etc. But how about GIS software running on Linux system?

Introducing uDig, a GIS framework for Eclipse.

uDig is an open source (LGPL) desktop application framework, built with Eclipse Rich Client (RCP) technology. uDig can be used as a stand-alone application. uDig can be extended with RCP “plug-ins”. uDig can be used as a plug-in in an existing RCP application.

To download uDig, you can go to http://udig.refractions.net/download/, and select your operating system.
